"This piece demonstrates notions of familiarisation, recognition and understanding of a given language. In this case the language has been constructed entirely by myself and therefore cannot be translated or comprehended by any other individual. It explores the importance of being able to understand and how this ultimately affects the sense of ‘understanding’ gained. Its ‘scratched in’ qualities on the sheet of Perspex almost give it a sacred feel, resembling that of an ancient language. Its presence is powerful in that it cannot be ‘read’ and therefore stands a piece of sculptural installation."
