"My instillation's focus is upon the leather sofa, which has been covered with bizzare and quite explicit text. This sofa was vandalised during a party I had at my house at new years eve of last year, and was completley unaware of people writing on it until the next morning. The action to do such a thing however is due to the influence of alcohol, and the nature of the party in my eyes. This sofa is representative of modern teenage culture, and how harmful substances and the adrenaline rush of a night out can make you do odd things, like this. So i have decided to install this sofa, accompanied with an ipod, some imagrey and dark lighting, to represent what i consider the life of 18 year old. As well as this I intend to display used alcohol bottles, and maybe even a condom, to create a virtual world where whoever sits in the chair is enticed within youth culture. The ipod idea echoes how music serves as an influence to teenage life (i.e punks, anarchy) and by physically engaging in my piece within a small dark cupboard it captures the sensation of the modern teen lifestyle, no matter what age you are. "
