George Dunsford

George Dunsford talks abit about the piece he will exhibit in the show:
_______
"The work that I have chosen to display in the show is a series of twelve acrylic paintings that are in a comic book style and are based on the series that feature in the television show ‘Heroes’. The basic concept behind them was that I wanted to make art based on something I like, so I chose my favourite TV programme and from there brainstormed what I could make. The whole idea of someone being able to predict people’s death by painting them really interested me. I looked into the drawing by James Cook, which showed his own death that actually came true. So now that I had the idea I went onto choosing a group of people that I could predict their deaths. I chose my art class and explained to them what I intended on doing. Then using a system whereby I wrote down different types of deaths and numbered them randomly, then got each person to chose a number, I paint what they had chosen. So that the series wasn’t of really similar deaths I made them all very different from being poisoned to freezing to death."
