"The piece started off as a product of an investigation ie carried out into forgery in Art and Artefacts . Where I was interested in how an object can hold significant meaning and value simply with some sort of back story. In museums objects hold meanings and status due to it's historical relevance , in Art an artist would make a piece to present a certain issue or to carry a certain meaning. So I started to cast an object creating multiples. I choose to cast a little Buddha figurine, I could of cast anything but i choose a Buddha as it already holds religous value. I created 50 in the attempt to raise questions like if you were to cast an object a million times over does it hold the same meaning/value as it's original or does the meaning change. By creating 50 of these Buddhas and exhibiting them all together and to place them in the context of an Art Gallery they as a collective then were made more than they originally were. For me the piece holds different subject matters, things that are not so obvious on the surface. As i also think this piece can be seen in the sense of personal identity, they are all the same object yet due to the technique and process of a cast they are not all exactly the same. They each hold individual qaulities others may not, chips in the plaster, air bubbles at random places."
